Tea Party

Our kids are back to using a chart where they earn stickers. We are still using the reward coupons that I made a while ago. Just yesterday and today, Elijah and Natalie earned their coupons. For Elijah's reward coupon, he chose "Special Play-time with Daddy." Well, Dave decided to make it extra special and got out the X-Box (thanks, for the donation/gift...you know who you are). Elijah definitely likes video games but hasn't had much time playing them. We have an old-school Gameboy, which he plays occasionally. He's also played old-school Nintendo at Nana and Papa's house, besides games on the computer. Playing the X-Box was "awesome!!!" Elijah kept saying. :) Dave became Super-cool Dad! ;) Elijah was very happy with his coupon choice!

Today Natalie had enough stickers to receive her coupon. And she chose..."Special Play-time with Mommy." :) I felt much pressure to live up to Dave's cool parent experience from the day before. ;) So I planned a tea party. We found/bought a play china tea set at a thrift store a couple years ago and have had it packed up in the closet all this time. I decided today was the day. I got it out, washed it, and prepared our special tea party food - crackers, cheese, carrots, dip, and marshmallows for dessert (all Natalie's favorite snacks). We had flowers, candles, a tablecloth, and red Kool-Aid, instead of tea. My plan worked! :) Natalie LOVED the tea time we had and was still talking about it when she was getting ready for bed (just as Elijah was still talking about his game time when he was getting tucked in last night). I'm now a cool parent, just like Dave. ;)

Now we just have to make a cool plan for next time because I think the kids are both already thinking about picking those coupons again when they have earned enough stickers....No pressure.... :)
