Dave and I put "Family Days" into our growth plan this year at every six weeks - a day set aside where we will do something more "fun," going somewhere as a family and really just making sure those days happen, that something else doesn't come along and make us "busy."
Our first Family Day was about two months ago. We went to the Natural History Museum (on the first Tuesday of the month it's free!), then went out to eat (using gift cards)...pretty cheap Family Day. :)
This time we went to Travel Town in Griffith Park. We actually weren't there very long. It didn't take long to walk around and look at the train engines/cars they had there. While we were there, we also rode on the little train ride around the area. It was a very popular place for birthday parties that day!!!

After Travel Town, we drove through the park to a large playground. The kids played for a while and then we ate lunch, sitting on the grass. After we ate, Elijah worked really hard on flying a kite but there wasn't enough wind, while Natalie kicked around a beach ball. (Jonas just watched.)

Before going home, we stopped by the carousel so Dave and the kids could ride.

We were able to do all of that and still get home early enough in the afternoon for naps. Elijah was already asking on the ride home when our next Family Day will be. Looks like these fun days will be a hit! :)
