Jodi's Baby Shower

On Saturday, Danielle and I had a baby shower for our friend Jodi. (Of course, we had help from other friends with setting up and food so it really wasn't just me and Danielle...)

Jodi is due January 6 and I'm due January 12. It's really fun to be pregnant at the same time with a friend, and it was fun to give her a shower for her first. (She's expecting a girl and me a boy.) Since we are in the middle of fall, we decided to go with pumpkins as our theme. It was really fun thinking of fall/pumpkin ideas! I especially had fun carving the pumpkins since I don't remember ever having done that before. Crazy, huh?!

We had the shower at the elementary school, which gave us lots of space for all the guests. Half of the tables had a flower arrangement in a carved out pumpkin (which we gave away as game prizes) and the other half of the tables had our carved pumpkins on them. (Danielle did the pumpkins with the stars that were partially carved out (layers of the pumpkin pulled away) and I did the pumpkins fully carved with a candle in them.) Dave did the masterpiece pumpkin - the baby's name and due date - Nadia, 1*6*10. Besides the real pumpkins, we made party favor pumpkins for the guests - tissue paper pumpkins filled with candy.

We used our wagon, wheelbarrow and a friend's wooden glider bench to help complete the theme. For food we had pumpkin cookies, pumpkin bars, caramel corn, roasted pumpkin seeds, apples/caramel dip, summer sausage/toasted bread, jalepeno jelly/cream cheese and crackers, baked brie with nuts, apples, and crackers, savory cheesecake with crackers, and pigs in a blanket. (Lots of food!) Our drinks were punch, hot apple cider, and coffee - with pumpkin spice creamer, of course!

Besides eating lots of yummy food, we played 3 games, had a prayer time for Jodi/baby and then the gift opening. Jodi received lots of nice baby stuff (outfits, bath stuff, bottles/food items, books...) which will really help get her and Manolo started with their little girl!

Everyone said it all looked so nice and we didn't have very much food left over so I guess it was a success! :)
