Festive Fun with Family and Friends

After much time, we finally received some pictures from our staff's Christmas party. We thought we'd share a couple with you - one of our family and one with our great friends, Danielle and Ryan. Hip-Hip-Hooray for friends and family!

One Hour

A lot can happen in one hour. Here's what our last hour looked like:

12:30 - Lunch is over and the clean-up is taking place. While Dave and I are cleaning around the kitchen, Elijah is busy playing and exploring. He discovers our old free-standing louvre doors in the corner by the kitchen table. Up until a day or so ago, the doors had a potted plant in front of them, keeping Elijah from touching the doors. Now. . . freedom to explore what the doors can do! He starts moving them and manages to "fold up" the doors - panel on panel. Great work! It's not until then that I notice what he has done and that the door is starting to tip forward on him. I try to make it in time but didn't. Elijah is on the floor, the doors are on him. He is terrified more than anything and cries like crazy!

12:45 - Finally calm now from much crying, it's time to change a dirty diaper full of whole soybeans from last night's dinner. Yum.

12:50 - We decide to all go out to the garage so I can take a look at something in storage. Time to put shoes on!

12:55 - On the walk to the garage, Elijah trips and falls on the cement, scraping his same little forehead that just had big doors land on it! The bump is bigger and redder. Not as much crying this time.

1:05 - Elijah is busy exploring new things in the garage while Dave and I discuss our many projects. I notice Elijah has found Dave's oil pan and ask Dave to make sure it's cleaned out...this time, it's not!!! It's actually full of leftover oil from the last oil change. In the short amount of time we were talking, Elijah managed to dump the oil on the garage floor, get it on his shoes, pants and hands and had tracked it all over the garage.

1:10 - Clothes are stripped off in the garage and Elijah and I head inside for a bath. Dave stays to clean up the mess.

1:30 - Bathtime is over. Elijah is clean, warm and cozy, already in bed for his afternoon nap.

One hour over! Hopefully the rest of the afternoon will be uneventful!

Funny Comic

I saw this comic in the LA Times today and thought it was pretty funny! Just wanted to share the joy with others. ~ Dave

My Weekend Project

Yes...another project with no end in sight, the list keeps getting longer and longer. Over the weekend, actually just Saturday afternoon, my new project was to make some shelves for Elijah's closet so we could have a place for all of his gazillion books (he loves to read, actually Laura has an addiction to Scholastsic book orders that I think I need to talk to her about). Anyway, they didn't take very long to make, only a few hours.

I think they turned out good. I changed them a little halfway through the project (no, not because I screwed up). I just thought they'd look better with the shelves "floating" rather than having the traditional sides most bookshelves have. Elijah gave this approval and helped me put them up. He also had to set Blue and Magenta (from Blue's Clues) on them to see if they were sturdy enough...I think they passed the test.

Stay tuned, I'm sure there will be more projects to come. In fact, I can guarantee it.

Oh yeah...and GO COLTS!!!

Good News!

Good news...we're having another baby!!! We actually found out right before Christmas that we were expecting, so we're breaking the news to you a little late, but we told both our families as a sort of Christmas secret "surprise" present. We celebrated Christmas with my (Dave's) family this year, so we were able to tell them in person, but we weren't there to see the reaction of Laura's family.

We thought we'd share the news in a more unique way, rather than just telling them, so we took an ultrasound picture we had of the baby (at about 6 weeks) and put that inside a clear glass Christmas ornament. We wrapped it up as a present, and let them connect the dots when they opened it. It was fun to see everyone's reactions! See pictures below.

Laura is now in her 11th week and almost done with the first Trimester. No morning sickness (she didn't have any with Elijah either) and things have been going very well. Laura even commented once that sometimes she forgets she's even pregnant...at least until she starts showing at least. We'll find out if it's a boy or girl, we're not going to keep people in the dark about that; however, the name will remain a secret until he or she is born :) Any guesses on either the name or the gender??? Of course, for the name, we won't tell you if you're right, but it's still fun to guess anyway, right?

We'll keep you updated and maybe even post some of the ultrasound pictures when we get some more. Until then, you'll just have to wait.

Let's Celebrate!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!

Thanks everyone for making my birthday extra special. I am now officially 28 years old and have declared my slogan for this year to be: "28 and feeling great!" I hope I can still say that at the end of the year ;)

Our Christmas Vacation

Well, it's been awhile since we last posted something on our blog...sorry for those of you who kept checking regularly and continued to be disappointed about the lack of effort on our part. Hey, we were busy!

We spent a little over a week with Dave's family for Christmas. It was a lot of fun! Sam, Jeff, and his girlfriend, Beth, were there to help celebrate. Rather than go into great detail about all the things we did, we thought it would be just as good if we posted a bunch of pictures so you could see for yourself. Here they are. Hope you enjoy them!
